Having a disability can often create a sense of loneliness and isolation in an individual. It can be beneficial to hear from other peers’ perspectives and experience to gain a sense of belonging and not feel so alone in their experiences. For that, we offer peer counseling for individuals with disabilities. Here are a few ways that peer counseling can create a sense of belonging.

- Hear similar experiences: In peer counseling, individuals have the opportunity to discuss both their challenges and their successes. In doing this, it can help others not to feel so alone in their similar experiences and to see that there is hope and chance for success once they overcome the obstacle they may be facing.
- Someone to listen: Peer counseling can also create a safe place to speak on any feelings, fears, or struggles the individual may be having. It can help them to feel heard and comfortable without worrying about being judged by others for what they may be going through.
- Gain support: In addition to hearing of similar experiences and finding a safe place to share, peer counseling can also provide the support the individual needs to feel more included in their community and happier with their life. We can also provide any other means of support, training, and guidance they may need to thrive with fewer barriers in their way.
