Systems and Individual Advocacy

HomeServicesSystems and Individual Advocacy

Providing advocacy that enhances the lives of people with disabilities.

Systems and individual advocacy are a core component of our work at the Disability Advocacy Center. This vital service is part of the framework for helping to protect the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. In turn, these services try to eliminate systemic barriers, ensure people with disabilities have access to services, and fight for their rights and respect on both an individual and a larger scale. Our team provides these much-needed services to all individuals with a disability, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, etc.

Systems and Individual Advocacy

Individual advocacy means giving people with disabilities one-on-one assistance to help them deal with certain aspects of their lives and ensure their rights are respected. This could include help getting health care, an education, a place to live, a job, or social services. Our team works closely with the person with a disability to find out what they need, what they like, and their goals to ensure they get the support they need.

Systems advocacy focuses on systemic problems and pushes for policy changes to help a wider group of people with disabilities. This is done through a dedication to changing laws, rules, policies, and practices that affect the lives of people with disabilities. Our team works closely with government agencies, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders to make it easier for people with disabilities to get around, be a part of groups, and have equal chances. This includes such things as working for better public transportation, more accessible infrastructure, education for everyone, increased job prospects, and more.

Overall, systems and individual advocacy services work together to give people with disabilities well-rounded support. If you’re curious about joining our cause or learning more about how systems and individual advocacy helps people with disabilities, contact a member of our team today.
